When JesusWalk first started in 2009, we had a vision to create a conference that was designed to open the eyes of our youth to the potential they have in Christ. Over the years, we witnessed our youth and young adults work together as one body and strive for one goal – transform the lives of our students. Through the conference, hundreds of peoples’ lives were changed because of Christ! It’s been an amazing journey that we have been so blessed to be a part of. Many of our current staff were students when JesusWalk first started and they were eager to join staff in 2019.
However, a lot has changed in the world since JesusWalk first began. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic affected the world, our students and our team were impacted in different ways. Thankfully, we were able to adapt as we hosted virtual conferences in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, we were thrilled to finally host an in-person conference with a small group of students. God blessed us that year by impacting the lives of those students, some of whom were welcomed onto staff in the following years. But we quickly realized that God was directing the ministry in a different direction.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, our team has taken the time to reflect, listen, and understand God’s direction for the future of JesusWalk. The team has faithfully answered God’s call to build the foundation of this ministry for future generations of students.
With the support of our community, we’ve continued the original mission and vision that was established in 2009 and we will continue to do this, but we have plans to do so much more! Review the details below to learn more about the new JesusWalk Youth Ministry!
1) We have established a new Purpose for the future of the ministry, along with Student Learning Outcomes that will enhance the student experience.
2) We have removed the word “conference” from our name and we are replacing it with “ministry.”
3) We will be hosting monthly programs and events throughout the school year to foster a sense of community all year long.
4) During the summer, we will no longer host “conferences” and we have changed the format to “retreats.” This will continue as a 4-day overnight experience with new improvements that are in alignment with our new direction.
We are bridging the gap for students who are searching for a home church by providing them with a safe place to build upon their faith and get connected to a Christ-centered community.
For people who are feeling lost, JesusWalk is a way to be found.
By going through our programs, students will be able to…
1) Recognize that JesusWalk provides a safe space to heal from their personal and spiritual pain.
2) Choose at least 2 JesusWalk programs that encourage them to find rest and rejuvenation.
3) Engage in Christ-centered experiences that give them clarity and perspective about their direction for the future.
4) Discover a sense of belonging and community in the JesusWalk Youth Ministry.
5) Outline at least 2 JesusWalk resources to help them grow in their personal strengths, talents, and purpose.
1) MAINTAIN HIGH QUALITY – Provide intentional and high quality programming for students to grow closer to Christ and find a home church.
2) INCREASE FREQUENCY – Increase the number of programs and events to at least one time per month to create more opportunities for students to find a sense of belonging.
3) INCREASE AUDIENCE – Implement new strategies to engage and grow our student audience by 20%.
4) ESTABLISH NEW PARTNERSHIPS – Collaborate with meaningful partners to enhance our programming.
5) EXPAND OUR TEAM – Increase the number of staff, volunteers, and counselors who will be added to our team by 50%.
By having a dedicated group of monthly donors, we have more time and energy to strengthen the ministry to its full potential. Since the beginning, JesusWalk has solely operated with an entire team of staff members, volunteers, and counselors who generously donates their time and services without compensation.
This is why now more than ever, individual support is necessary to keep us going. Each of our goals leads to another, so you will be amazed at how far your monthly contribution can go! If you have the means to contribute, that would be a blessing; we’d love for you to join our community. And anytime you feel like you want to pause/end your donor membership, no worries! Everything will help!
